A wooden vegetable tamper is a versatile tool used for various cooking tasks. It is made of durable mere, safe to use with food.
This kitchen gadget is perfect for compacting shredded vegetables when making sauerkraut and kimchi, helping release the juices and the remove air pockets.
This double sided vegetable tamper has been designed for small batch fermentation, with one end measuring 6cm in width and the opposite end measuring 5cm, for use in a small jar.
The large end has a smooth surface for making good contact with the vegetables, useful when filling a jar. The other end is textured with raised pyramid shapes which can also be used for crushing lemongrass, ginger or preparing olives for preserving.
The tamper is able to be cleaned with warm soapy water, then left to dry thoroughly. It should not be left to stand in water. Being a natural product this tamper is not dishwasher safe.
Occasionally re-seal with food grade mineral oil, this will prolong its useful life.
