Make your own genuine Scandinavian mild tasting, cheese-like yoghurt with a velvety and ropy consistency. Viili, originating from Finland is a mesophilic fermented milk product, which means it can be made at room temperature (20 to 26°). No yoghurt maker is needed, Viili is a soft setting yoghurt that can be eaten with a spoon, made into a frozen yoghurt desert and used to make delicious smoothies.

Being mild in taste when compared to other cultured dairy foods , Viili is a good option for small children, pairing well with fresh fruits and desserts.

This is a heirloom Viili starter with live active bacteria, which means that you can reuse Viili from your previous batch to culture your new batch, for as long as you wish.

Each packet contains at least 37 billion colony forming live bacteria, Lactobacillus Bulgaricus, Streptococcus Thermophilus, Lactobacillus Casei and Lactobacillus Helveticas. 

Each packet can make 2L of yoghurt. The packet contents can be portioned to start smaller batches. e.g. Use 1/4 of the packet contents to make 500mL of yoghurt. Once opened store the packet in an air-tight container, keeping out moisture. Refrigerate the starter pack to keep for 1 to 2 years, or store in the freezer to extend the shelf life.
